Crashing down with ants on my knees in the trees I hear the sound of electric ground powered outlets spitting morning all around. In unison we sigh together as we all try to begin our scheduling all our confessions of our sins into the wind. I would dive into the ocean if I had the time to drive away from my choices, decisions, and the things I said I’d try. Am I alone in wanting to forget how much I can not hold? Someone told me once just how it goes, “You are born and then you are old.” I picked out this body from rows and rows of generic white men and sculpted his mind from the cold and unkind cause that’s how it has always been. But, he unplugged his tether and cut the cords and wandered off into the trees. Sometimes I see him at night when I’m dreaming and I wake up with tears on my cheek.
Can we dance through this? Make our wishes into the thickets? Cause I don’t want to be alone tonight. We don’t have to sleep. We can close our eyes when the sun arrives; sleep in separate beds if it’s what you’d like. Touch my hand and let me know. Walk away and look back slow. Punch my face and let me taste the blood that runs in my veins. There is nothing still. There is no such thing as silence. Sing along to the choirs of wires and violence. Your fist is fresh and your feet are flying through the evening. Come find me dying in the candlelight. Roller coasters and stranger’s shoulders. We all have oceans of ghosts coming for us. Hold them closer or let them float up. The guilt is oil spilt it’s poisoning the water.
Rains replace the roads with lakes and things take shape regardless. They replaced the rails with lace as a symbol of things to come. The rest of been exiled in their minds hieratic inscriptions. Underground the lost are found with ignorant and subtle expression. He can not describe his joy of living in unholy voids of time. Even if he was to try he'd probably say it's something like deciding. Birds commute between the two knowing nothing of their structure. Their wings salute our search for truth while shitting on all of our statues. I'm full of bones that live in homes that's all I know. No questions. I can't complain. Same thing new day forever until my sweet grave. I can not describe my joy of living in unholy voids of time. Even if I was to try I'd probably say it's something like...
Nervous limbs, I’m buying shit that I don’t need. I keep saying that I’m going to move into the city. Its throes and frozen glows are thoroughly arousing. I’ll miss the woods amongst the rapid growth of crowded housing. I’ll clean the walls until the morning makes me ready. From bed revenge, forgotten dead, and the forgetting. I want to have a job that no one knows I have. It would pay okay and keep my mind quite at bay. I talked to you without a mention of your name, because, as I assume, you do not have one anyway. “Don’t give me wisdom all at once” is what I said. It hurts to know to fast, I’m happier when slowly fed. It’s six more months or probably more and I make my promises with one foot out the door. One day they’ll come and figure me out and force all the words back into my mouth. One day I’ll never know I was born and the rats and the crows will inherit the earth.
Rita said my love was a like a nightmare, in Paris. She is not the only one I know. I will share my body with a stranger while I wait with time to hear your answer. I will share my hands and feet and feathers. Do I even want to know? Will you come and touch me the way that was in the evening with all those flashes of love because, what I’ve been doing hasn’t done much but get me in trouble and kick up the dust. Can I have your machinery? I want to give it a try. I’ll trade in my fantasies to ease my mind, because what I’ve been doing hasn’t done much but make me a shadow all covered in rust. God damn, all this beauty in our hands.
Would you like to meet me outside all of the lights? A pool, a lake, or even an ocean would suffice. It’s here they’ll say, “I’ll tell you how it ends. Let the water take your ears.” Then you’ll hear just want you are. A souvenir, a rented car. They’ve turned your tears into a bar where they fall in love. I know your spirit wanders. I know my spirit does too. If both of our spirits wander then I wonder where they wandered off too? Numbers run up in our blood just like a drug. Like grass that blankets all the tiny little bugs. We scramble, scurry and we crumble underneath. We organize and fly into the breeze that takes us home to feel the ease to love our own. Until our tears turn to the sea they can not tell us who to be.
